I will be using this image of Keri Russell. Use this one or any image of your choice to try out this selective color technique.

Open the image in Photoshop. Create a new layer and change it’s blend mode to “color”. Then fill in that layer with the color of your choice.

It’s a bit intense. You can do a few things. Turn down the opacity of the color layer. Here it is at 45%. You can see that the image still retains many of it’s original colors.

Or, instead you can use some curves on the color layer:

Final image:

You get the idea. Apply the right effects, get a cool outcome.
